At Midwest Thread Works, every stitch we make has a story.
For us, knitting and crocheting aren’t just hobbies—they’re traditions passed down through generations. Whether it’s a cozy scarf for winter, a baby blanket gifted with love, or a playful amigurumi creature, each piece carries the warmth of time, effort, and care.
My mom taught me how to crochet when I was young. I remember watching her hands move rhythmically as she created beautiful things out of yarn—it felt like magic. Now, it’s something we share together: a quiet, creative bond that we hope to pass on to others through our work and this website.
We love using natural fibers and vibrant colors. Many of our pieces are one-of-a-kind, inspired by the seasons, the prairie landscape, or even a favorite childhood memory. When you buy something from us, you’re getting more than just a product—you’re receiving a handcrafted item made with care from start to finish.
We’ll be sharing patterns, process photos, and maybe a few mistakes along the way (because let’s face it, no project is complete without at least one frogging session!). Thanks for joining us on our journey.

I began crocheting about three years ago, and knitting over one year ago. Mama has been crocheting her entire life! We both love to try new things and are always up for a challenge. If you can dream it up, we can make that dream come to life! See that picture to the left?? That was my first time using multiple colors for a crochet project (colorwork).
Mama is very into amigurumi and making BEAUTIFUL, unique, sometimes structural hats. I am into colorworking and making any type of garment! Despite preference, we can make anything between the two of us!
…bold claim? Maybe! So far we have not come across a project that we couldn’t handle!
